Today’s Haiku (June 11, 2021)

君地獄やわれ極楽へ青あらし 高山れおな

kimi jigoku ware gokuraku e ao-arashi

            you to hell

            me to the heaven

            green-leaf blast

                                                Leona Takayama

from Haiku Dai-Saijiki (Comprehensive Haiku Saijiki), Kadokawa Shoten, Tokyo, 2006

Fay’s Note:  “ao-arashi” (literal translation:  blue storm) is a summer kigo; meaning a strong wind shaking green leaves.   It is a poetic word for a south wind.    “Ao” (blue) is often used for the green color in Japanese.
