甚平とバッハを愛し不惑なり 満田光生

jinbei to bahha o aishi fuwaku nari

              loving jinbei

              and Bach…

              I am forty

                                          Mitsuo Mitsuda

from “Haiku Dai-Saijiki” (“Comprehensive Haiku Saijiki”), Kadokawa Shoten, Tokyo, 2006

Fay’s Note:  ‘jinbei’ is a light cotton summer clothing with knee-length shorts and short-sleeved jacket.  According to ‘Analects of Confucius,’ one doesn’t get confused when he/she becomes forty.
