Today’s Haiku (February 20, 2016)

天気雨かはをそうををまつりけり  小川軽舟

tenkiame kawaoso uo o matsurikeri

              sun shower…

              an otter displays

              its fish to worship

Fay’s Note: ‘kawauso uo o matsuru’ (an otter worships fish) is one of 72 sub-seasons.   It is around current February 19.  It is based on a Chinese tale – river otters line up fish when they caught in abundant as though they would enshrine them for gods.
