蠟梅のつやを映しぬ薄氷    増田龍雨

rôbai no tsuya o utushinu usugôri

              winter sweet’s charm

              reflected in…

              thin ice

Fay’s Note: ‘robai (winter sweet)’ is a tree blossoming in January to February.   Literal translation is ‘wax plum,’ but it doesn’t belong to a plum tree family.
