Today’s Haiku (November 24, 2015)

朴葉踏む昨日の音に踏めば冬 橋本榮治

hôba fumu kinô o oto ni fumeba fuyu

            stepping on fallen ‘ho’ leaves

when I step on them with a sound of yesterday

            winter

                                    Eiji Hashimoto

from “Ganymede”, Vol. 62, December 1, 2014 issue,  Dorinsha, Tokyo, Japan

Fay’s Note:  ‘ho’ is a ‘white-barked magnolia’ (according to my dictionary).
