Today’s Haiku (June 2, 2015)

ひるがほや粒の大きな島の雨 大川ゆかり

hirugao ya tsubu no ôkina shima no ame

            Japanese bindweed—

            big drops

            of the island’s rain

                                                Yukari Ohkawa

from ‘Haidan,’ (‘Haiku Stage’) a monthly haiku magazine,  February 2015 Issue, Honami Shoten, Tokyo

Fay’s Note:   If ‘asagao‘ (literally translation ‘morning face’) is a ‘morning glory,’ ‘hirugao‘ (literally ‘afternoon face’), a summer kigo of this haiku,  can be a ‘afternoon glory’…?  🙂
