春遠し駆け込み寺の石の窪   船越淑子

haru tôshi kakekomidera no ishi no kubo

            spring yet far away

            a hollow of the stone

            at the battered women’s temple

Fay’s Note:   In the era women could not initiate divorce in Japan, there were temples for the battered women to provide a safe place.
